Katie Lee Currin WMU Group

The Katie Lee Currin WMU Group strives to be actively involved in missions.  This group volunteers with the church’s Thrift Shoppe, Food and Clothes Ministry and Upward Basketball; serves meals for Vacation Bible School, and helps provide for church ministries such as Awanas and Backpack Buddies.  Locally, the group focuses on the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford, the Ronald McDonald House in Durham and provides camperships for the Murdoch Center in Butner.  The group conducts several fundraising activities during the year to support these activities as well as Baptist endeavors at the state, national and international level.

Katie Lee Currin, for whom the Group was named in 1995, was a devoted Christian lady who was loved and admired by everyone.  She was vivacious and always on the go – characteristics this group desires to exhibit in their service for Christ.

The Group meets the first Monday night of each month, except for June and July.  If the first Monday falls on a holiday, then the meeting is scheduled for the next Monday night.  Meetings begin at 6 p.m. at the church or at the Thrift Shoppe.
